The letters of the Hebrew aleph bet are gateways to a vast world of meaning, prayer, meditation and music.
Whether it’s been decades since you once were taught to read, or you’re an absolute beginner, this is an open invitation to join a warm community of fellow learners.
Through an easy-to-use video conferencing service, you will be reading your first words by the end of our very first class, and be familiar with the entire Hebrew alphabet by the end of our ten week semester.
We will engage the Character of each character, exploring the deeper symbolism of each letter’s form and function.
You will get the most out of this class by attending in real time, on each of the ten course dates. But life happens. Each course will be recorded, archived and available online in case you missed anything our wish to review. Ten Thursdays, 6:30-7:45pm.
January 2, 2014
The course is a classroom without walls. We’ll feel more like a cohort if we can see and hear each other. We’ll be using a video conferencing system called zoom.us (if you’ve used Skype, you can use this). You’ll need an internet connection, webcam and modern browser (full technical details here). I recommend you “arrive” in the classroom at least 10 minutes early to get the glitches out of the way.
If you’re away from the screen, you’ll also be able to call in, but you’ll be missing out on a lot of the (visual) material.
